I was always interested in engineering and management. I chose NYU Tandon because you get to live in one of the greatest and most vibrant cities in the world. I was doing my research on the engineering school in New York City. And there are only two schools that provide my program of interest. And the reputation of school in terms of Industrial Engineering is way better. That's why I've chosen NYU Tandon. Most of the classes require you to engage with the real world as part of the class, which I think most students find very beneficial. I like the course structure. It's a mixture of engineering and management. And it's even flexible for students who want to get into code engineering. The curriculum is a 30-credit curriculum. There are four core courses. There are three courses in the industrial engineering electives and then there are free electives. That's nine credits for three classes, which they can take from anywhere across NYU. NYU Tandon's Industrial Engineering program has lots of professors with a worldwide experience, and they're willing to share this experience with us students and career tips in the industry. My experience at Tandon was a really great experience. I had the opportunity to meet great professors and great students. And I really was happy with the fact that relationships with those people were the ones that brought me to where I am right now. There are a number of NYU resources students can take advantage of. We have the MakerSpace, which is an opportunity to collaborate with engineers that are trying to develop prototypes of future products or services. We have innovation labs, where again, different engineering groups are trying to take those ideas and develop them into viable products that can be positioned out in the real world. One of the benefits of NYU Tandon is that it's extremely close to the NYU Washington Square campus. The Leslie eLab is our center at Washington Square Park, which is a great platform for students who are interested in entrepreneurship. And they have a great team, so depending upon your industry, they try and connect with the people who work in that industry. And I feel that's a really great platform for students to use if you want to start entrepreneurship. Because of NYU, and because of our strong alumni connections, we get top-ranked companies recruiting for our students. On many of these areas, operations management is becoming more and more important. And they see our program is producing students that can make a strong contribution. FreshDirect is one of the world's leading online grocers, and it's based in New York City. I've been working with him for about six years. We moved last year to his new top tech facility in the Bronx. And what I've learned in school was really how to break down a problem and how to tackle it. I took what I learned in my classes, and I could apply that in my internship at Con Edison as a project management intern. If you want to be a top industrial engineer, NYU Tandon is the place to join because you're learning from the best.

The Management of Technology program at NYU Tandon is pretty holistic. It covers the several tenets of management and it really gives you the right skills for a good engineer to be groomed into a manager and managing technology-centric enterprises. The program itself is really balanced. It doesn't emphasize too much on management or data or technology. And then you have core courses like accounting and finance. But yes, it gives you the electives, the freedom to choose from different kinds of engineering, different kinds of data analysis, which was what I was interested in. For me personally, one of the great strengths of the program was that I could really adjust the courses that I took to my pathway as creating a company related to urban agriculture. So I basically could create a program that was perfectly suitable for what was my plan for the future. The program consists of 36 credits. The core courses are there to build you the basic understanding so business concepts and develop you the vocabulary. The elective courses are those that students use in order to self-customize their curriculum based on their own goals and interests. So this program gives you a plethora of options to choose from in terms of your electives and specializations and the access to world-class faculty, and mentorship programs make this program one of a kind. MoT here at Tandon has a number of concentrations that makes it quite unique compared to other institutions. One of them in which I'm quite involved is Business Design. Business Design is a human-centered approach to innovation and strategy that helps organizations create new value and sustainable growth. The NYU Tandon School of Engineering is located at the heart of Brooklyn Tech Triangle which is the cutting edge intersection of technology and management and the access point of several different incubators and technology-centered enterprises here in New York City. NYU Tandon being located in New York City, definitely offers me a wide range of industries and opportunities to choose from. With the design lab at NYU MakerSpace, we have a collaborative program with the Leslie eLab and the NYU Entrepreneurial Institute called the Prototyping Fund. And this is an opportunity for our Master of Technology students to experiment with different processes of innovation, and sometimes, you know, turn their ideas into a startup. We train our students to have a great career in the industry but some of them, they have the aspiration of creating their own startups. We provide them with the resources through the incubators where they can find the support in order to explore further and introduce their ideas in the marketplace. I started my own company. We work closely with Leslie eLab here at NYU. I developed a prototypes here to school that are now the foundation of my company. So as a student, I met someone from Eisenberg and Company. And what started out as a internship led me to a full-time job. I'm currently working as a consultant for a management consulting firm here in New York City. And this program has really helped me achieve what I wanted to and the various skill sets that I've acquired have made me what I am today. I learned so much about entrepreneurship, about innovation. The simple truth is I wouldn't be where I am today without the School of Engineering or without NYU.

Cities are constantly changing. How do you provide basic services to cities of 20 to 40 million people? One of the exciting things about CUSP is that not only do we teach this in the classroom, but our students have the opportunity to go out into communities and work directly with these problems and with the people that are affected by them. So of course, we offer two degree granting programs. The first one is a Master's in Applied Urban Science and Informatics, and we also offer an Advanced Certificate on the same topic. I'm pretty sure so many people are wondering, \"What exactly does 'Applied Urban Science and Informatics' truly mean?\" If you look at each one of those words, you'll get a better sense of exactly what the program is about. It is applied. It is practical. It actually utilizes the urban city context as its lab. And it utilizes the information and data to actually help solve the city's challenges and problems. It gives you a very good combination of learning how to code, modeling skills, as well as giving you an understanding of city government, how it functions, and how the policies that affect us as citizens are framed. Students are curious and they're eager to really paint these solutions to problems that exist in the world. And so we have a lot of go-getters and those who, what they don't know, they're looking for the answer in our faculty and then ready to apply that in their real-world applications. I'd say the students in the program come from all different disciplines, but some people are much more into technology. And some people were going to be part of the decision-making process. For the first semester in the program, you are introduced to the basic programming course, which helps you to build those essential coding skills. And then in the second semester of the program, you can take more advanced coding classes, and essentially become a full-blown data scientist. Our programs are structured in a way that you can think of in terms of a Venn diagram with two big circles. The circle on the left is a technical circle. So where we have the classes that are concerned with data science, knowledge, and skills, on the right circle, you have the public policy side of things that discusses how to bring innovation to city governments and to understand urban decision-making processes. In the intersection between those two circles. You really have the experiential learning part of a program, which is mostly translated into a two-semester sequence of capstone projects that are really done in partnership between external organizations, the faculty, and the students, and are really about solving problems in the real world. So the city generates so much data, and we're lucky to be able to have access to that. Since it's open data, some specific data that we've looked at our 311 complaints, air quality, water quality, and various other metrics that are really interesting to look at. So a great thing about being part of NYU is having access to all the resources that the school has to offer. Something that I've really been able to take advantage of is the career resources. So NYU Tandon has our own career counselors, but then we also get access to the Wasserman Center, which is the bigger center, and NYU for career readiness. So with the skills that I acquired at CUSP, I was able to find a job at the College Initiative, which is a nonprofit, which works with government agencies, and helps them through training programs to use their data more effectively. So if you're interested in Urban Policy and Planning, and you also are curious about how data and technology works within that field, this is a really great opportunity to explore that. So it's a really exciting and inspiring environment to be in.

I fell in love with this university. And I was amazed by the labs and the curriculum was amazing. The civil engineering program allowed me not only to develop my technical engineering skills but also my leadership skills that I'm going to be using in the field in the future. Currently, I'm working with ultra-high performance concrete, where we're not only developing high resistant high strength concrete but also making it lightweight and flexible. What I love about this research is that we are developing the construction materials that we're going to use in the future in bridges and in buildings. I think there's no better place like New York to practice what I've learned here in the School of Engineering. I applied to many universities, but I chose NYU because NYU is a prestigious university. And it's a huge platform for construction managers. And students from different backgrounds, different countries, they come here, they mingle, and they share different construction techniques, different ways to look at the world. The professors have really good experience and in our field, that's what matters. The more experience you have, the more you can teach. The more problems you've solved in your life, the more doubts you can solve in class. Currently, I'm working for a company named Lexon Advisory. I'm involved in acquisitions, leasing, design, and construction. So it's a very fulfilling experience. Before I graduated from Tandon, I took an offer from ILO Construction. ILO is a multinational company of architects, designers, and planners. I will recommend NYU Tandon, because it's the perfect place to learn, the perfect place to be, and the perfect place to grow professionally. Enlightenment has given me a toolkit to stand strong in New York City.

NYU partners with other colleges and libraries to use their resources, many of which can be ordered online and delivered to one of the main libraries.\u00a0

Dibner has some of the best individual study spots, group project conference rooms, and administrative support services.

With almost everything digitized, gaining access to some of the most exclusive research materials is a breeze.

In addition to all the study perks, on the second floor, you can find the Student Services Center where students can speak to representatives from the Bursar, Registrar, The StudentLink Center, Office of International Student Scholars, and the Office of Student Activities and Resource Center.

The second floor of Dibner is where students can find the Student Affairs Office and Student Leadership Hub.

This office is an extension of the Center for Student Life on the Washington Square campus and serves as a place for club meetings and is home to 40 student clubs that are specific to the School of Engineering.

Tandon students also have access to all the clubs on the Washington Square campus that are not school-specific.

Clubs and athletics are a great way for students to find community and make NYU feel like home.

The Brooklyn Commons is an outdoor open area in the heart of the Brooklyn campus. Surrounded by Tandon buildings, the space is typically occupied by engineering students in between classes. It is common to see NYU students eat lunch, hang out with friends and study in the Brooklyn Commons. Though the area surrounding the commons is always bustling, it is a great place to find a spot to relax on one of the nearby benches.\u00a0

The Brooklyn MetroTech, which is part of the Innovation Coastline, is home to a number of companies such as JP Morgan, ConED, the Brooklyn Nets, and Verizon. The Innovation Coastline covers the area between Downtown Brooklyn, DUMBO and the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Startups like Etsy and Makerbot are located in this area. Approximately 81% of students work a job or internship during their time at NYU, and having so many technology companies within reach makes these opportunities very accessible for students.\u00a0

The Brooklyn Commons is home to several different events and offerings throughout the year. The Brooklyn Academy of Music hosts their R&B Festival, where artists hold free concerts during summer afternoons. The Downtown Brooklyn Partnership also hosts movie nights in the space several days per week. Another event, Sports on the Commons, brings a large screen to the commons for sports fans to watch popular sporting events together. Other summertime events include: ping pong happy hours, fitness classes and swing dance classes.\u00a0

During the winter, there is still plenty of fun to be had. The ice skating rink is a favorite of the MetroTech community. Weather permitting, the rink is open from January through March every year. A tradition of the MetroTech is the Christmas tree lighting during the holiday season.\u00a0

Some of Brooklyn\u2019s most exciting attractions are located near the Brooklyn Commons. Places like the Barclays Center and the Brooklyn Academy of Music are a few places students can explore nearby.
